Zelkova (榉树)

Tree hight 17cm, 25 years old
I visited Kyoto Japan for attending Japanese minibonsai exhibition 4 years ago and
I got this Zelkova in bonsai market opened in the exhibition.

Zelkova is  a deciduous tree well suited for most bonsai techniques and it is by far the best tree for bonsai.  Its fine branch charm is extremely attractive, especially in the winter when the branches are bare of leaves.
During the growing season, it is important to pinch new shoots and trim the leaves to enhance
the style of the tree.  If it doesn't pinch and trim in time and let new branch grow fully, it will lose fine charm/ growing balance and it will be ruined very quickly.
Zelkova requires a great deal of subtle precision to achieve good results.
